Use the deceivers for larger fish and the Clousers when a sparse fly is needed or you need to fish deep. Many different species in many different situations will eat these flies. Exact imitations are rarely necessary but this pack has many baitfish types covered, from small transparent minnows, right through to larger baits such as Anchovies and Pilchards. All of these flies are also excellent general imitators. In the water they just look like something a hungry predator is going to grab. If you need to get deeper, some, such as the Clousers, are weighted. You can fish these flies with confidence on anything, from all the Tuna species, to Salmon, Kingfish, Queenfish, and Mackerel. Apart from poppers most flats flies should be fished in the bottom third of the water column, if not on the bottom. Sometimes the fly is best on the bottom and at other times it’s best used with a fast retrieve and this can change from day to do. Be prepared to mix up your depths and your retrieves and remember, if in doubt go smaller. The second half of the run out tide is best for most of these fish.
