THANK YOU FOR AN EPIC YEAR AT HEADWATERS FLY SHOP
As the year comes to a close, we just want to take a moment to say **thank you**.
To our friends, customers, travelling anglers, first-time fly fishers, brand partners, and everyone who’s stopped in for a yarn or shared time on the water with us — this year wouldn’t have been what it was without you.
It’s been a huge year for Headwaters Art & Fly Shop, and one filled with some truly memorable moments.

BIG FISH, FIRST FISH & UNFORGETTABLE SESSIONS
One of the highlights has been seeing so many anglers land their first permit, including a few who only picked up a fly rod this year. Watching that progression — from first casts to first eats — is exactly why we love what we do. Add to that some absolute donkey permit and it’s safe to say the stoke levels have been high.
Barra fishing on the fly has also been outstanding. Through winter and now well into summer, things have really heated up, with Mackay continuing to prove just how special it is. The region is fast becoming a true destination for anglers chasing **trophy barramundi, sooty grunter, golden trevally, permit**, and a growing list of pelagics — all within reach of those willing to explore.
RAFT TRIPS AND WHATS NEXT
We’re especially excited about our **fly fishing raft trips kicking off in the new year**. These trips will open access to some incredible water that’s rarely fished and even more rarely fished with a fly rod. Remote locations, wild fish, and proper adventure — we can’t wait to share it with you. WATCH OUR SHORT FILM
A BIGGER SHOP & BETTER GEAR
This year also saw the **Headwaters shop extension**, giving us more space to showcase gear, art, and everything fly fishing. Along with that came an expanded lineup of brands we’re proud to represent, including:
Hatch, Orvis, Sage, Redington, Bushwakka, Lidrig, Rio, Thomas & Thomas and more.
Having access to quality gear that we genuinely trust means we can better support anglers at every stage of their fly fishing journey.
LOOKING AHEAD
Mackay continues to surprise and inspire us, and we’re only scratching the surface of what this fishery has to offer. Next year is shaping up to be even bigger — more water explored, more fish landed, more stories shared.
From all of us at Headwaters Art & Fly Shop, thank you for being part of the journey. We’re incredibly grateful for the support and community that’s grown around this place.
Here’s to tight lines, bent rods, and another year of chasing fish in wild places.
