Fly tying hooks grown for Australian rivers and lakes. Barbless and Barbed : high carbon steel, chemically sharpened for added bite

Goulburn Steel fly tying hook company is centrally located in the Goulburn Valley region of Victoria, Australia. Established in 2025 to fulfill a demand from local fly tyers, we’re set to grow the range with new products for 2026 already in the works.

Located just up the road from the lower reaches of the Goulburn River, we’re placed right in the heart of Victorian Cod, Redfin, Carp and Trout fisheries. The hardest decision is always, which way to go!

As R&D is an essential part of ensuring we supply the best quality hooks, we spend a lot of time on the water. Because this is very important. When we’re not fishing, it’s heads down at Goulburn Steel headquarters getting hooks sent out to our dealers and pro tyers.

All our hooks are rigorously tested in Australian conditions to ensure you’ll get the most from your time fishing with them. Our range of black nickel hooks are made of high carbon steel and are chemically sharpened for added bite. You want a hook that goes in fast and holds, and that’s what we are confident in offering at Goulburn Steel.

Working closely with our hook manufacturer in Korea, every production run is made for us to order. Goulburn Steel is insistent on maintaining smaller production runs so batch testing covers a wider percentage of product. Whilst this costs us more per unit, it doesn’t cost you anything in lost fish. Then, EVERY single hook is quality checked in-house before packaging to ensure consistent results. We back the quality of our hooks, because we use them ourselves.
